What Safe Speed uses
Safe Speed uses your device's precise location to:
- calculate and display your current speed
- record trip distance and trip history
- update Apple Watch speed displays
- support driving warnings such as overspeed and speed camera alerts
- keep these features active while your phone is locked or the app is in the background, if you allow Always location access
Safe Speed also uses motion activity to help detect when you have left the vehicle so trips can end more accurately.
What stays on your device
Trip history, saved settings, warning preferences, and custom warning sound selections are stored on your device.
Safe Speed does not sell your location data and does not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Third-party speed camera lookups
Safe Speed includes an optional feature for third-party speed camera lookups. If you turn this feature on, Safe Speed may send your current coordinate to a third-party map service to check for fixed speed cameras nearby.
This feature is off unless you enable it, and you can turn it off again at any time in Settings.
Background location
If you enable Always location access, Safe Speed can continue updating speed, trip recording, Apple Watch information, and driving warnings after your phone locks or the app leaves the foreground.
If you only grant While Using the App access, Safe Speed will still work while the app is open, including Apple Watch speed updates when Safe Speed is actively in use.
Data collection summary
For App Store privacy reporting, Safe Speed uses:
- precise location for app functionality
- motion activity for app functionality
Safe Speed does not use collected data for tracking, and collected location data is not linked to your identity for advertising purposes.
Children's privacy
Safe Speed is not directed to children, and the app is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children for advertising or profiling.
Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time to reflect product improvements, legal requirements, or changes in how Safe Speed works. The version published at this page is the current version.
